Campaigns

We do some campaigns. Select one from the menu on the left. The big campaign at the moment is the End Fuel Poverty campaign.

In the past, Norwich Anarchists were very active in the antiwar movement in Norwich, organising the Party for Peace street demonstrations, doing peace camps, being part of direct action campaigns, commandeering the battlements of Norwich castle for a banner drop, and also part of organising the largest demo of recent years in Norwich, where between 500 and 1000 people (depending on which paper you read), marched through the streets of Norwich.

In recent discussions we have decided to change direction - more towards things that can make an improvement in people's lives now, that can build our self respect and spirit of mutual aid, from which all positive social change springs.

Trying to influence the government is a futile game, well illustrated by the failure of the largest demonstration in British history (The February 15th 2003 antiwar march in London with over a million people) to change the mind of the democratically elected leaders. There are lessons to be learned - one of which is that it'll take more than a gentle walk around London to stop a government going to war and destroying the lives of thousands of people.
